January 31 - Off to the Motorcycle Show

Yesterday was a full day of eating and my body only put on a pound. Not bad. Today I'm working at the IX Center for the Pride of Cleveland Scooter Shop. It's a great time every year, but the food is awful -- all carnival style food: pizza, fried stuff, etc. I'm going to try to sneak in my own food so that I can get my salads in.

Breakfast - 2 cups of coffee (so far).

Snack - 10 mini rice cakes

Lunch - Salad (I snuck it into the show)

Rest of the day - handful carrots. About 3/4 cup of cereal.

January 30 - I don't Understand How It Works

So, yesterday I ate fairly lightly (yes, I know I still have to post yesterday's dinner pics.) I thought for sure that the scale would have reflected a much bigger weight change, and I'd be lying if I said that I wasn't looking forward to hitting the 208 mark making it an official 25lbs lost. Alas, I'm only down .2 lbs from yesterday. Now, I'm not complaining. I haven't been under 210 in at least 4 years. And this is 2 days consecutively under that benchmark. I've already more than doubled my goal of 4lbs for this month....but c'mon.

Look forward to a wild weekend of eating. Today is a dear friend's birthday so between his luncheon and dinner tonight, I expect some variation in the diet. Saturday and Sunday I'm working the IX Motorcycle show (helping out with the Pride of Cleveland Scooters booth), and we rarely get a chance to eat while there. I'll pack a few salads.

Breakfast - 2 cups of coffee, Flax Oil Gel Tab. Yogurt & Fiber One Cereal. Bagel.

Lunch - This whole grilled veggie wrap (mushrooms, onions, tomatoes, peppers, lettuce.)

Snack - a piece of cake from this cake I made for a friend's birthday. Ugh. All that sugar.

Dinner - Fab Pineapple Rice Thai dish.

Afterward at Zak's Party - Chocolate Death Cake.

I should weigh an extra 4 lbs tomorrow. ugh.

January 29 - Still Hibernating

I worked from home yesterday and had access to a house full of food - a potentially diet-hazardous situation. I only ate when I was hungry and stopped eating while I was still a little hungry. (Going to bed hungry feels much better than going to bed full.)

But you know what? Either I am in the throes of winter and my body is hibernating, or I'm finally at the point where my body is requiring less to eat. I don't have the desire to eat the cookies in the pantry, or whip up a half-dozen popovers, or make 4 pieces of toast with jelly anymore.

The results in just 2 months have been remarkable. As of this morning's weigh-in, I'm down a total of 24.1 lbs. Last month I lost 11.7 lbs. This month is 11.2 -- with a couple days left in the month. It's no longer a diet - it's now the way I eat. It's no longer difficult to resist those bagels at work, I just don't desire them like I used to.

Thanks, Tucker, for your little book, Everything I Ate: A Year in the Life of My Mouth
You changed my life.

Breakfast - 2 cups of coffee. Flax Oil Gel tab. Fiber One Cereal (yes, plain. It's very sweet!)

Lunch - Spinach salad w/cheese & cranberries

Snack - 11 pieces of caramel rice cakes (100 cal)

Dinner - Salad wrap. Final piece of La Vache Qui Rit in 1/2 piece of tortilla. (I can't believe I took a whole month to eat a package of La Vache Qui Rit. I used to polish one of those whole wheels off in a day.)

Lastly, I made a couple birthday cakes for a dear friend (yes, a couple cakes). I didn't eat any of the icing. My buttercream is especially easy to eat spoonful after spoonful. In fact, after decorating his cubicle at work, I brought the left over icing to another friend's house and he ate the icing. I drank water. :)

January 28 - Snowbound. Sort of.

Cleveland got a bit of snow today. Enough to close most schools and enough to make getting out of my drive a chore. I worked from home and had to plow my drive 3x. I'm whooped from doing a whole lot of nothing.

Breakfast - 2 cups of coffee. 1/3 cup Fiber One Cereal (dry)

Lunch - 3/4 cup pasta with Tomato and Onion sauce. (From the Jane Fonda Cooking for Healthy Living book.)

Dinner - Yogurt & Cereal. A little bit of cold, cooked pasta (which I've always loved since I was a kid)

Snack - Skinny Cow ice cream sandwich (140 cals)

January 27 - I Could Eat It Everyday

I know a lot of people who won't eat the same thing in the same day. To them, eating chinese food at lunch and at dinner is verboten. "I just had Chinese food for lunch," they'll cry. I don't get it. Chinese people eat Chinese food more than once a day. What gives?

I know that my photos show a lot of the same foods over and over. That's partially because I'm lazy, and partially because I love those foods. Black beans - I could eat them at every meal. Spinach salads? Delicious and filled with vitamins. Coffee - essential to kick start my butt in the morning. After that, everything else is secondary.

Breakfast - 2 cups of coffee. Flax Oil Geltab. Yogurt/Cereal/Blueberries

Snack - baby carrots

Lunch - Spinach Salad (almost forgot to take the picture until I was done). Mini rice cakes.

Dinner - Leftover black beans & spinach salad.

January 26 - Enough for this Month

Cool. Down a total of 23 lbs since I started December 1st. That's enough for this month. My goal will be to maintain for the rest of the week and then pick up where I am February 1st. Give my body a chance to enjoy this weight as it were.

Cleaning out the closets yesterday I found a bunch of pants that I can now fit into without sucking it in. Happy. Happy. Joy. Joy.

Breakfast - 2 cups of coffee. Flax Oil Gel Tab. 2 Excedrin (slept well, but funny last night. Ow. My head.) Yogurt/blueberries/Fiber One Cereal. I now am sure that I like my homemade yogurt better than the store bought stuff.

Lunch - A little more than 1/2 of the Bourbon Chicken and Rice pictured. Oh, that's good stuff. (urp!). Fortune Cookie

Snack - 100 cals of Caramel rice cakes

Dinner - Black Beans/cheese. Spinach Salad/cheese/cranberries.

Indulgence - The top of a cake I was baking after leveling it off. Hey, I had to taste it, right?

January 25 - Trying not to Jinx Myself

I've lost 9.6 lbs so far this month and I've got 7 days to go. I'd like to get to the magical 10 lb mark, which should be easy enough. The hard part is maintaining that number. For now, I'm very happy with the progress.

Breakfast - 2 cups of coffee. 2 egg omlete with cheese and onion.

Dinner - 1/3 cup black beans and cheese. Spinach salad w/cheese and cranberry
