Dec 31, 2008 - The Month in Review

Despite the holidays and the eating that goes along with it, I still dropped 12 lbs in my first month on SnapItFatty. I'm pretty proud of that. 2009 should bring some terrific changes. At 4lbs a month, I'll lose 48 lbs. That means that if all goes as planned I'll be weighing a svelt 173. My goal was 180.

According to this site, my ideal weight is 195 based on current research. According to this site, I should be somewhere between 147 (ha!) and 183 lbs.

Thanks to everyone who gave me support the last 4 weeks. I'm excited to see what happens in 09!

Breakfast - 3 cups of coffee. Flax Oil Geltab. Yogurt. 1/3 cup Smart Start cereal. Piece of toast with a wedge of soft cheese.

Lunch - Little bowl of cold leftover pasta & 10 pieces of dehydrated strawberries.

Dinner - at our usual haunt on New Year's eve, Macaroni Grill. Silly, I know, but it's become tradition. Wine, hunk of bread, a tomato soup that was so filling. Ate 2 of the 3 chicken manacotti.

Movie afterward was the wonderful "Benjamin Button".

Last food of 2008 - the dessert I didn't eat at dinner. A piece of light lemon cake with a bit of caramel sauce. The perfect way to end the year. Last meal: 11:10pm

Dec 30, 2008 - Ow.

The 2.2 pound gain in one day? Totally worth it. Had a good time with Brad & Chris & Dan & Bob. Between yesterday's over stuffed lunch, the donut and the pasta & bread, it's no wonder I'm retaining today. I'll fix that.

Breakfast - 2 cups of coffee. Flax Oil tab. DayQuil tabs (sinuses acting up) Yogurt & 1/4 cup of cereal. Piece toast w/a bit of La Vache Qui Rit.

Lunch - Sweet Potatoes. A few dehydrated strawberries.

Dinner - 1/2 leftover club sandwich. Salad. Couple pieces homemade nut roll (the best I've ever had).

Late Night - Bob, Zak, Dan & I hit a couple of coffee bars in town. Bob and I liked the first one. Zak liked the second one. We missed the coffee bar that had "Bluegrass Open Mic Night" - got there too late. Had a vanilla latte at the first bar. A cafe breve at the second one.

Dec 29, 2008 - Monday Morning Comin' Down

Dinner was great and still managed to maintain weight. Tonight Brad and Chris are coming for a little dinner. A big salad and a little pasta.

Breakfast - 2 cups of coffee. Flax Oil geltab. Cup of yogurt and 1/3 cup cereal. Kashi bar.

Lunch - Sweet & Sour Chicken (ate 3 of the 5 pieces). A doughnut. Zak tried to urge me not to eat it. I think he might have been right.

Dinner - GAH! FOOD EXPLOSION! Glass of wine. Brie with walnuts/figs on cracker. Then another. And another. And another. Salad. Pasta. Bread.

Dessert - 2 ice cream bon bons.

Right before bed - peanut brittle.

Dec 28, 2008 - A Month of Photos

The end of the year is just around the corner. It's been a fun experiement taking pictures of my food wherever I go. Some people ask what I'm doing which leads to a conversation about food consumption. Other people just gape and say nothing.

I'm looking forward to the new year - post holidays - when I can really go back to eating the way I was a few weeks ago. So many of the social events I attend are focused on food. That needs to change.

Breakfast - 2 cups of coffee and Flax Oil geltab (I found them after Bob cleaned the kitchen and put them in a random cupboard.) 3 eggs, 2 pieces bacon, 2 pieces toast.

Snack - handful of dried and reconstituted strawberries from the West Side Market. Yummy!

Lunch - Whole delicious ham & herbed cheese grilled sandwich. It was delicious but I'll pay for it later.

Dinner - MOO! Zak made WAYY too much food and I ate way too much of it. (But it was delicious!) Matzo ball soup. Roast with carrots & latkes. Wonderful dark bread. Pumpkin pie.

Dec 27, 2008 - Back to Work

I noticed something interesting yesterday. I didn't post all of my consumed/photographed food until the end of the day. While conscious of my food choices, I wasn't as dedicated as I have been compared to the days I post photos as I take them. That is certainly more of a deterrent to overeating.

Went to reunion tonight with a bunch of my old students (and one of my former teachers). Didn't eat or drink a thing.

Breakfast - Coffee. 2 leftover ham/cheese rolls from the party Bob threw last night.

Lunch - Leftover Chicken Tikka & a couple pieces of banana roll.

Dinner - Salad and some sweet potatoes (baked).

Dec 26, 2008 - The Day After

Not sure how, but the scale says I'm down a couple 1.5 lbs. Whatever.

Tonight is dinner at India Garden restaurant with friends. Lord, protect me from my friends.

Breakfast - 2 cups of coffee. Yogurt & cereal.

Snack at 10am - caramel rice cakes

Lunch - Salad w/cheese & 3/4 can of black beans (I do love black beans). 2 cookies.

Dinner - Indian bean flat bread, 4 pieces of fried veggies (yum!), Chicken Tikka. A giant choco-cashew drop.
